The Problem
How much water do you use in a week? How much paper do you write on every day? How much food do you consume every meal - and how much of it goes waste? That's exactly what we're planning to do in this challenge - show you that no matter how environment friendly you try to become - you'll still have a carbon footprint and be using up resources wastefully unless you take action. The planet is undergoing a major resource shortage, with Earth Overshoot Day coming up earlier and earlier every year, and it's up to you to make an individual difference!
The Solution
There's a simple method to understand - if we learn how much we use on a daily basis, we'll become more cautious of our usage. If we're more cautious of our usage, we'll try to use less resources!
Bada boom, bada bing - you're eco-friendly!
The Method
- Sign up below so we know all the good work you're doing!
- Choose a recording time (we recommend a week to start off)
- Choose a resource (or material, in some cases) to track. Some examples are water, paper, electricity and plastic.
- Record it in a table everyday. In the meantime, research a bit on what you're tracking so you stay well-informed.
- Once you're done recording it, see how much of the resource you use. See how you can reduce it.
- Take steps to reduce your consumption! (These steps can include taking a bucket bath instead of a shower, drinking from a reusable bottle, writing on recycled paper etc.)
- Get creative with your solutions and send them to us on social media with the hashtag #AWeeksWorth and #TheEcoClubUnited
